Top Things to Know About the PGA Valspar Championship

  1. The PGA Valspar Championship offers more than an opportunity to watch top golf pros battle at one of only four Florida stops on the PGA Tour. The March 20-23, 2025, event is held at the Innisbrook Resort in St. Pete-Clearwater, home of America’s Favorite Beaches and many opportunities for great dining and outdoor adventure. There are several days of golf events and tournaments preceding the Valspar, but most are private events.
  2. Innisbrook’s 900 wooded acres include the grand stage for the tournament, the Copperhead course, which will be lined with an incredible variety of food and beverage options each day, and will host a concert on Saturday night, March 22, starring Country hit-maker Jordan Davis.
  3. Adding to the championship’s broad appeal and fun are the ways Tournament Director Tracy West has woven in the influence of the title sponsor, Valspar, a paint brand, to earn the nickname “The Most Colorful PGA Tournament in the World.” The tournament encourages the fans attending the event to dress colorfully, with “Color Scouts” flitting through the crowds and giving prizes to those who are the best and most colorfully dressed. Hint: You might score extra points if you incorporate the Valspar Color of the Year for 2025 in your wardrobe.
  4. The competition offers drama that even casual golf fans can enjoy. The Copperhead course (named for the venomous snake) is ranked No. 7 for difficulty on the PGA Tour. It’s long, at more than 7,200 yards, and features undulations and tight fairways lined with pine trees. The course’s challenging final three holes can make for last-minute changes in the leaderboard. Case in point was the final day of the 2024 tournament, where six players took turns in the lead. Journeyman Peter Malnati birdied No. 17 to put him ahead for good. In the field of 156 pros that included 10 of the top 30 in the Official World Golf Ranking, Malnati’s victory was unexpected. His check for $1.5 million was more than he had won playing 35 PGA tour events in 2023.

Parking

Parking passes are digital and must be purchased in advance of the tournament. They may sell out before the event, so plan to purchase early. The Green Lot was sold out as of mid-February for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Coral and Peach lots are not available in 2025. The Shuttle service is available from some of the lots.  An alternative is using rideshare apps such as Lyft and Uber - this is highly recommended as parking is limited (there is a dedicated area for drop-off and pickup near Gate 8).
